POPMATTERS CMJ REVIEW 10/09
AM Only Booking Showcase
The Studio at Webster Hall, New York City
Body Language, a Brooklyn four-piece, played colorful synth pop shaped by Tropicalia climaxes and a compelling lead singer, Angelica Bess. Saccharine synthesizer lines harmonized three ways, along with bells, forged dreamy melodies under a dance beat. Though their sound was saturated in electronica, practically all of it was played live on multiple keyboards creating a refreshing live dynamic and a lush full sound many electronic-focused bands couldn’t touch. Their last song, “Holiday,” showed off more of their melancholy vocals over another strong but ethereal beat.

“ Keep an eye on East Hundred. They could be huge” – Philebrity.com
“…a group of songs that roam between the dream-pop jangle of the Sundays and the sharper punk edges of Rainer Maria…the album’s refusal to bury hooks or play coy with Beril’s front-and-center lead vocals gives East Hundred the refreshing, confident air of a radio-ready pop band” – Magnet

Peephole is a Brooklyn-based project founded in the Spring of ’07 by Kent Odessa, its main producer, singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. It initially began as an electro-pop collaboration between Odessa and producer Jeremy Jonas Cox, the results of which are included on the soon to be released “Strawberry Told Me” EP. In the Summer of ’08, Odessa began performing live around new york city, recruiting musicians Chesty Wellington (guitar), Andrew Baxter (drums), Brian Kolterman (keys), and Drew Peterson (bass), eventually recording the EP, “Cold Dime.” Odessa is currently finishing up his third EP, “Crime Drama,” which will be released for free download in December.
