Rumanian Buck!

“D.I.Y. never sounded as good as this! SEE THEM, SOON. A genuinely different, gritty, dancy, gypsy, experimental mix-up of sound that translates AMAZINGLY live. It really overtakes you- and it’s SO fucking fun.. so you know what to do.” Eric Whiptastic, Ins&Outs Magazine.

RUMANIAN BUCK
RumBuck

Rumanian Buck are a fierce four piece comprised of Aaron Lazar, lead singer for The Giraffes, and Mishka Shubaly and Mitchell King who were part of Beat The Devil. There are ingredients from those bands present here that make this recipe all the more spicy. Aaron’s vocal delivery in these songs is similar to the best stuff he still does with The Giraffes. Mishka and Mitchell, who were the rhythm section for Beat The Devil, bring a tighter and sharper bump and bounce to these tunes as well. They have definitely taken the best parts of their previous work with those bands, flipped them, smacked them, chopped ‘em up, and turned them over and thrown them into this stew. You will like what they have done too.

HYMNS

ROLLING STONE DIGS HYMNS….well, so does Southpaw. These kids are fantastic. We’ve always been fans here and are REALLY looking forward to their return to South Brooklyn.

HYMNS play on Sunday, November 8@Southpaw with The Devil Makes Three, Spirit Family Reunion (shout out to Nick), and the Brooklyn debut of an incredibly talented young man: Spitzer Space Telescope (post coming soon)

Rolling Stone Magazine ‘Appaloosa’ Review-
3 Stars!
‘Buzzed-over North Carolina-via-New York quartet Hymns are a folk-rock band that likes to experiment with a mix of textures: Druggy AM-radio vibes on “Call Me Honey,” a harpsichord groove on “Ten Bells,” horns on the singalong title track. What doesn’t change: the band’s strong, rootsy tune sense.’ – ROLLING STONE 10/09

More press on HYMNS:

‘If Pavement and Neil Young Took A Roadtrip to Burritoville’ – SPIN

‘Brian Harding and Jason Roberts have been playing together since grade school and it shows, their riffs and leads flawlessly intertwining, gracefully switching roles until they make a nonsense of the terms “rhythm” and “lead” guitar. As supple as they are subtle, the pair blur genre lines along the way, but in the end, their North Carolina roots inevitably show, all those years picking away on the porch shining through.’ – ALLMUSIC.COM

‘Roberts and the band’s front man Brian Harding have known each other since they were little kids, been playing music together almost as long and it shows — the two have a tight, effortless chemistry on stage, and along with drummer Tony Kent and their newest member, bassist Matt Shaw, they play a show that offers Southern fried good times, start to finish.’ – JOHN NORRIS MTV
